Terms

Last updated 28 September 2026.

These are the terms between you and SafeGarage, a company in Manitoba, Canada (“SafeGarage”, “we”), for the SafeGarage board, the SafeGarage app and the service behind them. By setting up a board or using the app, you agree to them.

What you get

A board that wires to the garage door opener you already have, an app for your phone, and the service that connects the two. There is no subscription: the service is included with the board, and we will not start charging for what it does today.

Installing it

You install the board yourself, at the opener, following the app. Wire it the way the app shows for your opener, keep the board and its wires away from the door’s moving parts, and power it with the included USB cable. If you are not comfortable working at the opener, have someone who is do it for you.

A garage door is a moving machine

SafeGarage moves your door on your command, from anywhere, and can move it on its own for the reasons you set. That never replaces the opener’s own safety sensors and reverse; keep them working. Before you open or close the door from away, make sure nobody and nothing is under it. Keep children and pets clear of the door when it moves, and do not rely on SafeGarage as the only way to keep the door closed.

The CO version

A version of SafeGarage that opens the door a little when carbon monoxide rises is in development. When it is available, the board will be an additional sensor that helps ventilate the garage, not a replacement for a carbon monoxide alarm and not a safety device. Keep a certified CO alarm in your home and follow its instructions.

Your account and your keys

You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep your phone and that account secure; anyone signed in as you can move your door. The board’s local key and Home Assistant key let a phone on your Wi-Fi open the door, so keep them, and your Wi-Fi password, to yourself. One person owns a board at a time; a household shares that sign-in.

The service

We run the service so the app reaches your board from anywhere, and we send the board software updates. We do our best to keep it up, but it can be down; the app then works over your home Wi-Fi when you are on it. We may change or stop the service; if we stop it for good we will tell you first, and the board will keep working on your Wi-Fi.

Warranty and returns

The board carries a one-month warranty from the day you receive it. All sales are final; there are no returns. Write to us at support@safegarage.ca with your order and what happened.

Limits

To the extent the law allows, SafeGarage is provided as it is, and we are not liable for loss or damage that comes from a door moving, from the service being unavailable, or from your Wi-Fi, opener, phone or account. Nothing here limits rights the law gives you that cannot be limited.

Law and contact

These terms follow the laws of Manitoba and Canada. Questions go to support@safegarage.ca. Our privacy policy says what we keep and why.
