Troubleshooting
The app can’t find my SafeGarage
- Plug it in with the USB cable from the box, and wait for its blue light to blink.
- Turn on Bluetooth, and allow SafeGarage to use it when your phone asks. Said no before? Turn it on for SafeGarage in your phone’s settings.
- Keep your phone within a few steps of the board.
- Was it set up before? Once set up, it turns its Bluetooth off. Reset it. Push a straightened paperclip into the small hole at the lower left of the case, and hold the button inside for 5 seconds, until the light flashes fast.
- Still nothing? Unplug it for 10 seconds, plug it back in and start the setup again.
My SafeGarage won’t join my Wi-Fi
- SafeGarage joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. Most routers send it under the same name as 5 GHz: check that the 2.4 GHz band is turned on in your router.
- A hidden network does not show up in the list. Choose Other network and type its name.
- If your Wi-Fi does not reach the garage, the board cannot see it. A Wi-Fi extender near the garage helps.
- It says it could not join? Check the password and try again: capitals count.
Setup stops at Connecting
- Keep SafeGarage plugged in while it connects. It usually takes under 30 seconds.
- It says it took too long? Unplug it, plug it back in and start the setup again.
- It says it belongs to another account? Its owner needs to remove it from their app first.
- Still stuck? Reset it. Push a straightened paperclip into the small hole at the lower left of the case, and hold the button inside for 5 seconds, until the light flashes fast. Then set it up again.
My wall button stopped working after I installed it
- A loose wire is the usual reason, most often the black one.
- Push each SafeGarage wire all the way into its terminal on the back of the opener: red into red, white into white, black into grey.
- The wall button’s own wires share the red and white terminals. Check they are still pushed in too.
- Check the three wires where they go into your SafeGarage too.
The door doesn’t move from the app
- If the app shows your SafeGarage as Offline, check it is plugged in and its blue light is on without blinking.
- Check the wires: red into red, white into white, black into grey, each pushed all the way in.
- Check the opener picked in the app matches the colour of your learn button. You can change it in your garage’s settings, under Opener.
- Does the opener move from its own wall button? If it does not, the opener itself needs a look.
- Opening part way stops in the wrong place? Measure the door again, in your garage’s settings under Door calibration.
I’m not getting alerts
- Allow notifications for SafeGarage in your phone’s settings.
- In your garage’s settings, check which alerts are on and how long the door can stay open before you hear about it.
- Each person sharing the garage picks their own alerts, in the app on their own phone.
- Focus, Do Not Disturb and battery saver modes can hold alerts back.
